Found this while searching for some useful security ideas, looks like a neat little trick, the way I read it needs to have another power source, AND BE ON, like brake lights, dome light, parking brake indicator light anything like that. I guess if you didn't want to fuse it you could do that also, so your not constantly changing fuses. Thoughts?

Clever idea. Basically a kill switch with protection. I bet it's a pain in the butt though. Every time you get into the car, forget that the switch is on and try to start it, BLAMMO. I think a hidden kill switch alone would be better or maybe an indicator light that gets grounded through the kill switch with a diode to isloate it from the relay. That way, the light will be on when the switch is "armed" and you will remember to turn it off while appearing to the thief to be an alarm device.

I would just buy an alarm...and don't connect the bump/tamper switch that makes the alarm go off when a Harley drives by.

You could use it without the fuse I guess, or keep a shunt handy:D

I found several more Ideas if anyone wants them posted.

Just use a circuit breaker instead of a fuse. That way if you forget, Just wait 60 sec. for the breaker to reset and go. A thief won't sit around waiting.

That's great! 87a is the normally closed contact so the horn blows if you try to start the car with the switch off. Very cool!
