: just bought Chevelle 72 with a 454 but not SS did i screw up?
mike512austin Aug 13th, 07, 12:32 AM just bought this car for $5700 need alot of work and i think i jumped the gun. I have always really wanted one of these. this car needs alot of body work and interior work but it runs great 454 and has alot of boost. there was no hood with it. Does anyone know if a standard hood will fit? First time to buiy a car like this and any feed back would be really appreciated.
Autoengineer Aug 13th, 07, 1:34 AM If the car has always been in the TX area or at least south of the salt-belt it can't be too bad. You should have seen the rusted out bondo-buckets I looked at up here in the Chicago area and people wanted 10K+ for them. $5700 for a Southern car that needs work seems about right to me.

Standard hood will fit as long as it doesn't have an extra high high rise manifold making the air clearner sit to high. Post some pic of the car. Welcome to being a chevelle owner.
FlameOut Aug 13th, 07, 4:55 AM Without seeing the car, sounds like a deal to me. I just bought a 67, non SS, with a 350 for $4500, and it needs lots of work also. compete interior, and some body work. I'll give you this 350 for the 454 :) Can't expect a showcar for $5700 (I keep telling myself this to justify my purchase lol)
You will always second guess yourself. I just found this 67 on craigslist (http://westmd.craigslist.org/car/394272169.html) which looks to be better shape, more options and cheaper than the one I just bought
oldtimebaseballfan Aug 13th, 07, 9:31 AM Hello and welcome Mike. Without a better description or pictures, it is difficult to give a value. But $5,700. doesn't sound bad for a car from the south that is running.
Cecil Aug 13th, 07, 11:53 AM I have always really wanted one of these.
What else matters? Welcome aboard!

Post the VIN # so we can see if the car was born with a 454 or not.
mike512austin Aug 18th, 07, 4:09 PM So I have calmed down a little since I know Nothing about casa and everyone seams to think I got a prety good deal. Where can I get a hood? also does it make the value of the car go down since the motor does not match the vin. here are pics! Thanks everyone for your posts!:):beers::hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:
