The rear end is from a 67 Chevelle so you won't find the casting number on the 66 CD. Ratio code is the same between the two years, 66 has metallic brakes where 67 does not. Date formats are the same, E is for Eaton Positraction which is explained, web casting date is explained with photo and text. Check Quick Decoding > Rear Axle.

I don't see any numbers like 3857584 on a Muncie, but you don't say what kind of transmission you have - 4-speed, 3-speed, or Powerglide. :confused:

Edit: I just checked my Chevellestuff.com site and found the 3857584 casting for the tailshaft on a 66-70 Muncie, the 5660 is probably 3925660 which is the main case for a 68-70 Muncie, can't find anything like the 30883 but it doesn't look like the transmission is a 66 either.
