Went racing today. It was a big local event, they had the ozark mountain super shifters and some nitro cars. So i go racing. I got a total of 6 runs in, each progressivly got better except for 2 in wich 1 i missed 3rd gear and the other ill explain later.
Run 1. the first run of my life was a 13.39@ 104, 1.939 60 foot. popping and banging on top end and i missed 3rd.
Run 2. was a missed shift and a bog and i let off
Run 3. i went 12.91 @107.23, 1.866, 60 foot, i hit all my shifts...slowly but i hit em.
Run 4. was 12.64 @111, 1.883 60 foot. I brought the jets up 3 sizes on both ends and she responded but was still lean as hell
Run 5. i only had time to bring up the front jets 3 more sizes and it responded with a 12.60 @111 1.846 60 foot.
Run 6. Hit a 1.76 60 foot shifted to 2nd and the clutch let go, it was faring to be a good run but oh well. Car was still lean.
I dont know if im getting adequite fuel pressure or what but i would jet up and it responded very well but would still pop like hell on top end. Im running a 130GPH carter, and im thinking about goingto a 172 GPH after i fix my clutch. I never got a great run and theres a TON of ET left in this car, its looking like that low 11 second time slip might be a reality if i can get some stuff straightened out.

111 MPh with a stick is good for low-mid 12's. Glad to see another guy rowing gears. I'm going Sunday

What is the combo?

So far so excellent. Great lauches at a 1.76! Big improvements with some tuning! What kind of clutch were you using? Did you have the clutch free play set tight? It almost would seem that it was too loose, or a clutch ready to unass itself. Hard to grab quick gears if the freeplay is not tight, or the clutch is marginal. Hopefully a new disc makes it easier on ya so you can tune that wild thang down to the 11's..

427... The clutch was a job done by a shop around here. He makes excellent clutches, i think i have my geometry off thats why it let go and wouldnt shift worth a damn. A good buddy who had the tranny before me said it shifted excellent so
thats where my thinking process takes me.

The combo is an 11.1:1 350, Brodix RR200 heads with 2.05/1.6 valves, CNC chambers, weiand Team G intake {im going to a super vic or a motown soon though} 750 mighty demon, Howard 302/310, 268/278@.050, .560/.572, on a 108 installed straight up. The cam might change...any suggestions welcome. Richmond 5 speed, Ford 9" with a detroit locker, and 4.11 gears. 3260 lb nova. The more jet i gave it the faster we went so i know 111 isnt even close to the fastest it will MPH. I have plenty of motor i just have to tune her, get some bugs worked out and get the car doing 1.5 60 foots.
The chassis tuning advice is going to be coming from a local who has a stock eliminator 70 nova hitting 1.45 60 foots, pulling the front tires and the car runs 11.30's with the stock 350. I saw him hit an 11.90 yesterday but the air sucked. He runs cal tracs and monoleafs.

Hey Nick,,
graemlins/beers.gif

Too bad those Brodix RaceRites won't make any HP huh :D :D
I see 12.0's without any more engine when you get the car hooked & you know there's more there with some tuning.

First thing I'd do is advance the cam like 4-6 degrees with a 1.6 intake rocker & see if it don't like it before changing the cam.

We know how well those heads flow clear to .700+ graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Well i just pulled the clutch out and it is completely gone on the pressure plate side and just fine on the flywheel side...kind of strange.
