I am thinking about a set of headers for my 1990 3/4 ton truck. I am running manifolds with the stock y pipe, no converter and a 2 1/2 single with a dynomax super turbo. The underside of the truck looks a little tricky for full length headers and duels so I was looking at the shorty Summit headers that use the y pipe. Are the gains worth the time and money with this kind of header on a stock tbi 350? I'm looking to boost low end torque and I know a full length will do that but what about this header?

Are you sure it's not a 3" single? My 93 came stock w/ 3". You need a 3". A aftermarket y pipe will help about as much the short headers. Full length should fit easily in a truck. I think hooker makes a set. For an engine that has a torque peak rated at 2800 rpm, I don't think shorties will help much.

The y is a 3" but its necked down to a 2 1/2" muffler and tail pipe. The problem with the fit will be the drive side pipe, it looks like it will have to cross over and run down the pass. side but I'm no exhaust man. I would rather have full lengths with duals.
