Howdy, y'all.

A buddy of mine just sold his race car and used the money to buy a 72 Malibu that will be the foundation for a Chevelle SS-454. The car has a 402 engine, a TH350 transmission, beautiful paint and interior. So, since I'll be helping him work on the car, I figured I'd join Team Chevelle to check out the forums and get some technical tips when I need them.

Although there are a lot of Chevies that I like, I've always bought Fords and Mercurys. I currently have a 67 Cougar GT with a non-stock 428 and full Global West suspension. Great car. I also have a '56 Vicky hardtop that is in the process of becoming a "street gasser."

I hope you can tolerate my dumb questions and I'm looking forward to learning more about Chevelles.

The first step to recovery is to admit you have a blue oval problem.

All kidding aside, you must be a good friend to actually go out on your own to learn about something like this. Please feel free to post a question whenever something comes up. Lots of guys only hang out in certain sections (engines, body etc) so make sure you post in the right sections. You WILL get expert opinions, and some good advice too.

oh yeah, 72s ROCK.

Hello and welcome Basil. Good luck on the friend's 72.

Yep, I definitely have a blue oval problem and I admit it. But if I listed the top 10 cars I'd like to have, the list would include a '36 Chevy 3-window coupe hot rod and a 68-69 Chevelle. Plus a '70 Challenger and a bunch of Fords and Mercurys.

I've found over the years that Cougar guys are into EVERYTHING. I've been in the DelMarVa Cougar club for a few years and our members are complete car junkies, unlike a lot of Corvette, Mustang and Camaro guys that are only into their little thing....

Thanks for the kind welcome into the forum. I won't ask oldtimebaseballfan what he thinks of Barry Bonds...

I'm not far from you- North Stafford. Ever go to the Manassas cruise on Saturdays?

Yep, try to make it as much as I can...haven't been in a couple of weeks and will miss this week (taking out of town visitors to the airport). Maybe we'll meet up one Saturday...good go know!

We were all dumb when we started. Some of us are still dumb. LOL The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask before you re-did what you should have asked for help with.

By the way, my company cars have always been Fords. They hold up well. My father was a Mopar dealer and I grew up with Hemi Sport Furys and 383 Satellites. This whole rivelry thing is a myth. I love them all.... as long as they go fast and look good!

Welcome
