I was told that i could use a ford solenoin on my starter .this would help with a heat soaked
solenoid, what year should i ask my parts guy for
and what type of ford car/truck would it come from
i also heard that newer fords have a button on the bottom of the solenoid that lets you bump over the motor from under the hood i would like to get the model and year of the ford that it came on.i know you can get a kit from SUMMIT/JEGS
for around $27.00 ,but most ford solenoids are around $7.00-$14.00 plus i don't have wait for them to mail them to me i will go to parts store get it ASAP thanks

any 70s modle ford maverick or mustang will do i think the only ones with the starter switch built in are the after market solenoids. you will also have to run a wire from the the inside solenoid switch to the hot teminal on your gm solenoid to make it work.if you cant find the switch you are looking for you can alwas put a starter button under the hood for easy access

Robert, take a look at mine & others replys to the post by RESQ302 in either the ENGINE or TROUBLESHOOT section (over the past week)concerning hot start problems due to heat soak before putting that ford setup on your chevy. It's really not needed if you stock setup is functioning correctly and all componenets like factory heat sheilds etc are in place.
