I have a 72 chevelle. Just bought a set of 28" x 10.5 " mounted on 15" rims with about 5" of backspacing. Will these go under the fenders? Or have I messed up big time.

They should! I'm running a set of Hoosier Quick Time Pro's with an 11.9 section width on 5" back spaced wheels. I have to run a spacer as they slightly rub on the frame during a 1/4 mile pass. Your 72 should have more room under the fenders than my '67 so you should be OK.

I havea 69 and I run 15 x 10 x 5.5 bs. I rolled the lip and worked over the inside of the wheelwell and have gobs of room. I've had other wheels with a 5" b.s, and the 5.5 is better. For tires I run on the street the bfg drag radial 275x60x15" which is 28" tall, at the track I run some Mickey Thompson ET Drags that are 10" wide at the ground and 28" tall. The car is lowered 2" and the tires have never touched the car! If it's not to late I would go with a 5.5" bs and they fit great!

I just mounted MT ET Drags (28x10.5x15) on 15x8's with 4.5 BS and they fit great - don't touch anywhere.

Hey Troy, did you have to roll the lip or anything, that's the exact setup I'm going to use. Matt

I have the same setup as yours, with a 4.5" backspace. There is room under there for more tire, but not much more. You should be fine with that backspacing...

rkn2, how wide are your rims? That will make a difference.

I think the rims are 9" wide, will the 5" bs work.

On my '70...
12.5"x28x15 M/T ET Streets on 15x10" 5 1/2" BS Weld Prostar for the street.
10.5"x28x15 Hoosiers slicks on 15x10" 5 1/2" BS Welds for the track.
No issues with fit on either set. Pics in signature.

Hey matt,

No I didn't have to roll the lip. 5" BS would have been better probably but not absolutely necessary. You have to be careful about getting over 5" BS because you run the risk of rubbing the inner fender. You should be fine.
