Hi,
Need a little advice on breaking in my BBC.
Running a Comp Cam with a .574 lift. Comp cam recommends running without the second valve spring for break in. I really do not want to take out the 2nd spring. I added clevitte bearing oil all over the cam and lifters and will pre lube.
Should I follow the procedure, talked to various
people everyone has a different opinon!
Thanks for any advice!!

So you have more experience, money and research time than Comp Cams?

TAKE OUT THE INNER SPRING!!! There have been too many wiped out cams around here lately. If your cam wipes out you may have to pull the engine apart all over again and you'll regret not taking Comps advice, BIG TIME. Just my .02.

Take the time to do it right. If you wipe a lope/destroy a lifter, that metal has to go somewhere and it can get impregnated in the piston skirts and cylinder walls.
Just my opinion.

I think your fine leaving them in. Why do you think edelbrock, dart, afr, etc sell complete heads and don't have you take springs out ;)

The cylinder head manufacturers don't warranty camshafts.
