Any body use these gears ? Are they good quality and easy to setup ? I have a few Summit brand parts and the quality is very good. I know BGH has said hes not used them. Any one know who makes them for Summit ?...Thanks

I will be the first to step up and reply.....I bought a set of 4.11's for my 8.2 10 bolt. I am not sure who made them but they advertise that they are american made. I guess the quality is okay......I have had them in for about a month. Mine howl at around 3000 rpm. I think this is probably due to the set-up, not the actual gears. I think the backlash may be off a little. I thought we were at less than .010, but now I am not so sure. This is the first rear end that I have helped with. The guy who did most of the work has done quite a few...the only real problem we had was with the pinion. It was installed with no spacer. If anything it still set a little too far towards the ring gear but it really couldn't be adjusted anymore since there was already no shim. On the up side, the car seems to like the 4.11's. Seems to work much better with the cam than the 3.36's. Part throttle response is great. Most of my driving is around town so it is not really too much of a pain. Can't wait to get back to the strip to see if there's any improvement.

Thanks. I seem to remember BGH saying he didnt like a certain brands 3.73s or something. Its strange that some companys quality varies with ratio. Hope ya get yours straigtened out...You WILL be in the 12s now though !

There are a lot of ring & pinion sets being imported now. Some come from Italy, some from China and others from who knows where. I haven't used the Summit gears, but I can be pretty sure that they are imported. I have installed imported gears in the past and most worked out all right. The gears from Italy (Motive Gear) are good.

What did the contact pattern look like? I'd say that the pinion depth is off.

Could have been a little better. Sometimes there is a slight chatter when you let off the gas also.
