While my current cam ordeal is getting taken care of, I'm trying to get an idea what to run when its time. (Within weeks hopefully)

Heres the rundown, what are youre thoughts for a solid roller?

383

10 to 1

2.05 1.60 AFR 195s

Was thinking Victor Jr. , but I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna port match my Air Gap and keep that with the Wilson Manifolds 1 inch tapered 4 hole spacer.

Holley 750HP

DUI racing HEI

4.10 rear gears, 26 inch tires, 2004-R with a 3200 stall.

3470 pound car full of gas with me in it.

1 3/4 inch headers. 3" into 2.5" X-pipe with 2.5" Magnaflows.

The car is an aggressive street/strip machine.

I guess I'd like a 2500 to 6500ish powerband peaking 6100 or 6200ish. My only snag is that the motor needs to be able to cruise around 2400 RPMs with the converter locked up in overdrive. Also, would you spring for a 4/7 swap even with a dual plane?

Youre thoughts would be greatly appreciated. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Until Harold steps up, I can tell you we used a UD 288/296 Hyd roller 234/242@.050 .530/.530 108 sep.
Pump gas, 10-1 compression 383 S-10 pickup with a glide and 3.73 gears it went 11.33@ 119Mph first time out.

Same cam in our 406 78' Camaro ran 11.60 something @ 118.95 MPH (with a 1.81 60 ft).
Shifting between 5400-5800.
Only thing different from the norm was that we used solids on it.

I think this cam all around would pretty much do what you are looking for!

I just finish dyno my SBC 400 with Harolds Solid 280/284F10 247/251 525/530 106 ICL 110 LSA. I have reach 500 ft tq and still have plenty potential over 6000 rpm's. Just food for thought....

MY FYN 79,

Well, it depends. The VERY LAST cam ground at UltraDyne was for me. I have 195 AFR heads, and will put it in a 377/383, about 10.25:1.
The cam I picked was my SB288/296R9, 255/263 at .050, .626"/.626" valve lift, and 109 LSA, installed at 102 ATDC ICL.
I know the rear rims will need screws in them to keep from spinning in the tires......
The 501B2LUN, with 276/284 at .020, 243/251 at .050, .582/.582 valve lift, and 110 LSA has very good power for the range you're looking for, and the 501B8LUN, with 287/295 at .020, 254/262 at .050, again .582"/.582" valve lift, but cut on 110 LSA, would also work.
The 501B2/501B8 have a long history of DAILY street driving, and 11-sec quarters. The 501B2 can probably get by with a 2500 SS, but the 501B8 needs at least a 3000, to a 3500 SS, and 3.9 rear gears.
Hope this helps,

UDHarold
