the name suggests along with the type of material Mike & Seeb suggest for replacement that they 'wick' moisture out of the tail light lense area.

That goes under the heading of wow, I learn something new every day.

How long is the wick? I just assumed the hole was there to let moisture out, I didn't realize a wick went in the hole.

My car's not in the same class as yours ( not many are).... but that doesn't mean I can't be anal about it :D

Thank's for posting the pic..... it looks like it extends out of the housing just enough to grab it out for removal.... how far into the housing should it go?
thanks Mike

Just in case anyone should think otherwise.. I was joking about the Freshman thing and and never mean to insinuate that my car is above anyone else's.. just having fun... I would like nothing better than to see more folks make their 66's the best they can.. no matter what the status of their restoration.. TRULY! Thanks Seb for the compliment , I am sure that Blue car of yours is no slouch!

Yes, just sticking out far enough to grab it with finger tip or tweezers, be careful.. too short and it will fall inside the tailight area when installing.. cut it long at first to get the fit/snugness ( is that a word ) the when sure it is tight enough.. nip nip..total length no more than a 1/2 inch is what I used.

Now, lets talk valve cover caps...:secret:ooops.. that would be Valve Stem Caps....

Well there is something to the old saying one is never to old to learn. Had my ole 66 bucket of bolts since new and have been all over it for many years including a frame-off in 2000. For what ever I never knew these wicks existed on my car. I must have removed them at some point and time and they went into the not concern can. Thanks I am going out and look for the hole in the housings.

That's pretty anal all right, but interesting; I think I noticed those holes once, didn't think much about 'em. Nice to know. :D

Mike looked inside my trunk at Aces regional show and saw wicks in my housings and said to me details, details, I thought to myself what are you talking about.,and then saw them myself. Somehow mine are original and have survived 40 years. They must have been in the housings that I bought at a swap meet while undergoing resto. They were perfect housings as mine had broken studs etc. Thats why this site and everybody on it is priceless! Frank
