My 750 cfm Edelbrock is having a problem. After a week or so, my carbureator has a yellow color tinge on the outside of it from gas spilling out (I think) My question is, why is it doing this? Are the floats stuck? Is the gasket that is between the two parts of the housing bad?
Any ideas?

Is your carb a Q-jet?? I don't know if Edelbrock makes a 750 performer series.

I have the 1902, 750cfm Q-jet
It isn't the cleanest thing in the world, but I don't have any leaks that are noticable. You can buy a set of five Air Horn gaskets from Edelbrock (through summmit) for about $10.00. (Mine are backordered).

After opening it you must inspect a few things. First see is the counter-weight on the rear (front of carb) of the float is still 'hooked' onto the float. It is an iffy mating, and Might find its way loose.

You can then check the float for a hole. IF you are gonna do this and haven't done it before, post again and I'll give ya some for-warning. I have done this three times in the past two weeks. I might use a blindfold next time http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
