The race car is nearly torn down to the bare frame. The frame and interior is getting powder coated; car is getting new motor, new fuel system, new rear end, new interior, new paint, etc, etc. I only need to buy a carb for the 555 and I will have, or have ordered, all the parts for the motor. I recently bought a vacuum pump, oiling system, cam, stud girdle and crank trigger from ReherMorrison. Hopefully I will get the pistons, heads and intake back from them soon so we can plumb the intake and start assembling the motor. My nitrous sponsor (Nitrous Supply) has decided to run two Foggers instead of a plate and a Fogger. We are going to test a new nozzle Mike Thermos designed he calls the Mother Fogger. I will try to get some pics of it. It is an interesting design and if nothing else should cut down on the area that a standard nozzle usually takes up in the intake track. It is a bottom discharge nozzle so we will have to weld bungs on the intake to be able to position the nozzle correctly.
After a lot of head scratching and searching around I have found a class I would like to try my luck in. It is the PSCA (a popular organization on the west coast) Pacific Street Car Association. Even though my car is not at all street legal they have a class called Super Street I can fit into. It is an index class that combines 7.6 and 8.6 index cars into the same category. The 8.6 cars get a 1 second head start. In index racing the idea is to cut a perfect light and then run exactly 7.6 or 8.6 seconds. I like the class because it will allow me to drive fast et's and they leave on a pro tree. I hate sportsman trees. I looked at the cars running this class and there is only one other car that runs 7.6's...so I will be forced to sit there for one full second before I get to leave. I will put a camera mount in my car so I should be able to post some video's of me trying to run down 8.6 cars.
Here is a link to the rules and a little about the class. I have never run any kind of index so it will be a big learning curve as I try to figure out how to slow the car down or speed it up without going faster than 7.6. I also like the fact they limit the amount of electronics you can use, no delay boxes for example. I do have to make sure my digiset timers for my nitrous systems are allowed.
