1967 Chevelle originally manual drums and a 283.

I am about to get the parts for my power front disc brake conversion. I'm confused on the Master Cylinder and booster. Using an 11' booster do I need a short rod length or long. Which MC is best for disc/drum? Does it matter? The Ground Up catalog list MC's as all with drum or all with pdb. I don't see any drum/brake. I don't see any mention of rod length with the boosters:confused:

Can I go to the Napa site and put in say 69 Chevelle with front disc/rear drum and take any MC and Booster? I'm pretty much clueless on the rod length issue. Do I need to remove what I have first to check.

Would appreciate help from anyone who can help me understand this. My brain is kind of fried. I've been reading brake conversion and Master Cylinder posts for the last 4 hours.

I think I'll try rewording my post...

Can anyone recommend a master cylinder and booster (combo or individually) for a 67 Chevelle being converted from drums to front disc? I am getting most of my parts from NAPA.

Thanks,

Still no response...

I guess I need to keep the drums.

Thanks anyway.:)

Don`t keep the drums go with the disc. Ask the parts dude for MC and booster for a 67 chevelle with factory disc and power brakes. My 67 has factory power disc and it originally had an 11" booster but I`m not sure if thats the same as a power drum booster, you may also need to change your proportioning valve. Check out restoreclassics.com, I used one of their MC/booster kits when I need to go to an 8" booster for valve cover clearance, both are chrome and drop dead gorgeous.

I put 4 wheel Wilwood disk brakes on my 67 without a booster. I have a 1" wilwood MC also. Best mod i've done on car. You can get a adjustable rod that would solve your problem. Wilwood brakes are a little pricey, but worth it imho.
