IF WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A CAST CRANK UP TO 350 HORSE I WOULD SAY WOULD BE SAFE AS LONG AS ROTATOR IS BALANCED AND FLYWHEEL AND PRESSURE PLATE ARE BALANCED IF USING STD.

BOTH OF THESE ENGINES I DO ARE TOP RUNNERS IN THERE CLASS.

My stock steel crank has survived several nitrous passes (200hp), Then I cut a key way and spun a 8-71 with 12PSI, Now it supports 18psi from my turbo.

As long as the balance is good, And you use good fastners, the stock stuff is tough enough..

I also used a cast crank with a 150 shot and shifted at 6900..

i dont think he's making 2250HP. i think he's runnin (2) shots of nitruos, 250HP each.

The car belongs to a friend of mine,70 gto street car.I would guess it weighs 3500lbs with him in it.350 cubes makes about 155lbs cranking compression 6;71 blower 2 600 vac holleys, dart 215cc iron heads with 2 cheater plates on it jetted @ 250hp a piece.cast crank, stock rods cast pistons.i saw it run 9:76@137 Atco Dragway with a 1.32 60fttwisted the axle tube in the process.I think he's a nutz myself but its stayed together for a year or so evidently he has a good tune up.
Cnc I don't know what your doing wrong how fast do those cars go?This combo might make 700 with boost and spray to run those numbers I'd guess with that 60ft.If I can get the time slip from him so you guys can analize the incrementals I will post it.

ON MY POST I SHOULD HAVE SAID THAT 85% OF THE ENGINES I DO ARE FOR CIRCLE TRACK APPLICATIONS
AND RUN MORE THEN 10 SECONDS AT A TIME, SOME OF THESE ENGINES RUN UP TO 6500 LAPS IN A SEASON.AND MAKE UP TO 600 HORSE. IN THIS ENVIORMENT A CAST CRANK WITH NO RADIUS JUST WON'T MAKE IT. I KNOW I SEEN GUYS TRY THIS AND NOT HAVE GOOD LUCK.

THE 2 BLOWER ENGINES I DO RUN UP IN CANADA IN THE TRACTOR PULLING CLASS,ALL ALUMINUN WITH 8-71 LITTLE FEILD BLOWERS ON ALKY, ONE WITH 18 DEGREE
CHEVY HEADS AND THE OTHER HAS BUICK HEADS AND RUN
FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS AT A TIME AND I SEE THEM ENGINES EVERY 2 YEARS FOR FRESHEN UPS. THESE ENGINES ARE ABOUT 36000 DOLLARS A PIECE, I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD LAST LONG WITH A CAST CRANK.

AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY SAYING (I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING WRONG)

When you type in CAPS it implies your shouting.
Reread you post you asked:
"What the heck am I doing wrong" in the last sentence sarcasticly. When you implied that what I posted was Bullsh**t.IMHO I don't think your doing anything wrong if you can make that type of power and make it live, none of this is sarcastic so don't take it that way.As you stated you can get away with more abuse drag racing than a circle track application.

I don't mean to be mean to you - but when you type in caps you imply shouting to everyone else reading your post, whether or not you mean it. For the courtesy of others, caps are only used if you need to shout something.

That said, it looks like you have a real nice shop up there. I'm sure your presence here on the board will be very welcome.

Im really not expecting this motor to last long. Its more of an experiment than anything. smile.gif I dont reccomend anybody follow the path ive chosen. My motor will probably be in 1000 pieces by the end of next season :D

I used a stock GM Cast crank for about 6 yrs. In my 355 The engine made 480 HP at the rear wheels and I made well over 800 passes at the track with it. I finally took it out after it needed turning again and was already at .030 / .030.
Just like anything else.. some will last forever and take abuse you never expected it to and others will die for no apparent reason

I have been racing a 69 ElCamino in G/SA for the past 4 years. Its a 2 bolt cast crank all stock engine that runs 11.40's all day.Good fasteners(ARP)and attention to detail when you build and stock parts are plenty strong.Btw,cast crank 2 bolt block is lighter than forged crank 4 bolt block.Lower weight=go faster:)
