454/NOM, He's not trying to say this is a numbers matching 69 454 car is he.

I personally like them both but leaning towards the 70 because of its price and the buildsheet and 427. I perfer 69's more actually, if they were the same price I would probably shoot for the 69 instead.

Nom means Not Original Motor.

My mistake. I was thinking NO-numbers, M-matching

I like the 70 other than the seats & shifter. Price seems good if it is solid. Good luck & let us know.

I'd have to say the '69...looks nice, clean, and sounds like a stout engine.

The 70 looks like a beast and would be fun...but seats would have to go.

I would go for the 70 Chevelle and leave the 69 for me. Just kidding, I like both but the 70 is sweet with that price.

I was undecided at the start of this thread. There were good points and bad points with each. But now the 69's looking much better after I saw those pix of the 70.

yea i'm leaning towards the 69 myself...but i just found on craigslist 25miles from me a 69 2dr Post Malibu which needs the bottoms of the 1/4's fixed to be painted and the engine tranny, rear end combo of my choice...for 2,600 but i dont have the patience or time or extra cash to build somethin..so i dunno

Rule of thumb! It is always cheaper to buy a finished car than to restore one yourself.

I love 70's but if I were spending my money there would be a nice orange 69 sitting next to my 70....

That 70 is more like a 17-18K car on a good day.
You would think the guy would even hit the lower fender and door with a little 5 minute detailer or something
No one will pay 23K for that car when for a few grand more you could certainly find something nicer. If it had the factory wheels and stock seats/shifter it might be a 20K car.

i work in asphalt paving and while paving a guys driveway today he opened the garage and what did i see a WICKED 66 Chevelle so upon talking to him a little he says its a Small block car in the mid 10's! street legal tells me a buddy of his is seling a 70...well low and behold the 70 i looked at is the car i'm gonna buy i'm 99% sure i'm buying it just wanna look at the Red 69 in NH first but my question is its a 70 SS clone but the car is immaculate mild 454,3:31 12 bolt, tremec 5spd Cortez silver black stripes black interior he was asking 28,000 i got him down to 25,000 he's got 40 grand in reciepts i think its a pretty good deal i couldn't find any flaw in the car except the SS dash needs to be re painted

So, what's your question? J/K I think you're asking if it's too much to spend on a clone. If the car is worth 25,000 to you then it is a good deal. Don't worry about going rates or any of that stuff, if you like it and agree to spend a certain amount of money then there is nothing you need to justify.

He has $40K in receipts, so you already know what it would cost to build one like it and he's being up front about it being a clone.

About the clone thing, who cares unless you're looking for a 100 point original show car. You obviously have the itch, so get yourself a Chevelle, and congrats.

I looked @ that 69 in NH. It's not a 30K car. The 454 is bone stock 1979 with some chrome. I'm not even sure it's a real SS. The guy was real shady. Save yourself the trip.
