: Next Big question.
ski_dwn_it Aug 1st, 07, 8:21 AM What is the difference in the upper forward control arm mounts across the different year chevelles?
What I am mainly interested in are:
1. The length difference in control arms (uppers only).
2. The width of the front upper mount points (center to center). I have heard they are 25" and 27" inches....our 67 has the 27" width....
Anyone have any insight on any of this stuff? Its much appreciated.

Thanks
Slowpoke70 Aug 3rd, 07, 5:07 PM I can't help on the distance between the mounts right now (side to side) but I've got some specs on UCA lenghts.
64-67 12.75" or 13", I've seen both commonly quoted.
68-72 10.25" - Both my stockers measured within an 1/8" of this, my Edelbrock adjustables are right on the money.
ski_dwn_it Aug 3rd, 07, 7:56 PM Thanks for that information. The width is what I am really after. Would really appreciate if someone could get me a good measurement of their 68+
Thanks Fellas!

I am interested in all the year chevelles - so if a few people could get me this measurement I would greatly appreciate the help.
Our 67 has a 27" width - I know this changed from year to year.
Thanks a million!

Slowpoke70 Aug 5th, 07, 12:49 PM I'll try to measure my 70 later this week.
bowtie6872 Aug 5th, 07, 1:13 PM I'll be right back..
my 70 frame is from under the car.
bowtie6872 Aug 5th, 07, 1:30 PM ok from upper link mounting bolt head centerlines 24"(head of bolt to head of bolt/measured from the bottom of the bolt head)
from where the outermost bracket is welded to the frame crossmember is 28" from weld to weld..(from outer bracket to outer bracket/at welded points on the crossmember)
the inners bracket piece are welded 221/4" apart (at welded points on crossmember)
and the center to center of the links measured are where the bolt goes through them is 20 7/8th" this was measured from the centerline of the link and the center line of the upper bolt where those lines entersect...)
hope this helps
ski_dwn_it Aug 5th, 07, 5:50 PM bowtie,
Thanks a million.....I tried to put what you wrote into a quick cad drawings to make sure I am understanding everything you wrote. Here it is - can you please confirm...

What is really weird is our 67 is at 27" center to center where you have 20.XX - that is quite a difference.
Can a few others check there too to see what they get also - it would be much appreciated so we can get some collaboration of measurements and see what everyone gets.
Thanks again bowtie, you have helped me GREATLY....
On a side note you would not think the ears on the pumkin would allow the rears to be interchanged back and forth across years, since that center distance is so different....but when I made the jigs for the 67 - they came out to figure them to be 55* - so they are not off by far from what the drawing figured yours to be????? I doubt it came out by chance. The length of the control arms have to play into it also - where yours are alittle longer.
Thanks again. Interesting stuff - at least to me. lol
8sec71 Aug 5th, 07, 10:03 PM I will try to get some measurments off of mine as well tomorrow.

lol
my meesurement is from the center of the link(if you cut the link down the middle the long way.. and the centerline of the bolt..
centerline of bolt to bolt(outer part of upper frame bracket for link) was 24"
at the point the bolts pass through the brackets and links..
if you measure from the outer links brackets where it is welded to the frames crossmember is 28"
that same measurement from inner mount to inner mount is 22.25
that make the space to slide the links between the outer part and inner parts of the brackets 2.875 before you take out the thickness of the metal used for the brackets them selves
metal was close to 1/8" thick times 2 is a 1/4 inch leaves you with 2.625 for the link bushing
