Hey guys!, I have a Holley Double-Pumper on a SBC 400. Recently I have heard it "popping" out of the carb on acceleration, not idle. When I first heard it, I thought it was coming from the passenger side of the engine, I was wrong. Is this caused by wrong engine timing, or what? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Sounds like another cam gone flat. Remove the valve covers, and check for loose rockers. If none are visable pull the coil wire ,and have someone turn it over while you watch to see if one or more are not moving as much as the others.
Had the same problem.valve springs went bad

Low mile BBC, say 4000, would get a loud BANG right under the carb...scared the crapola outa me.....pulled the plugs....all sooty. Went one heat range hotter, end of story. Apparently I got Truck plugs from the counter guy, my fault for not doing my homework...this was part of a head swap from early closed chamber ovals with big spark plugs to open chamber ovals with small plugs
