Has anyone found a way to keep engine parts that are subject to high heat from rusting?
After spending many hours cleaning and painting the underhood area on my '69 Malibu, I'm finding that those parts that get hot, like spark plugs and header bolts are developing rust spots. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rich

Eastwood co. and others have coatings that may work.

Yes, Eastwood. They have a bolt blackening kit that gives a nice original style finish that is pretty tough. I don't know what you mean by spark plugs. Do you mean the base where you put the wrench?

Stainless steel fasteners everywhere - only costs more initially.

Yes, jaqazi, that's what I meant.
Kevin, I've read that if you're replacing your exhaust system with ss and plan on using ss clamps and bolts, you should pre-clamp with steel first, remove and then replace with ss since the ss bolts are not as strong as reg. steel. would ss be strong enough for header bolts?

Thanks all,
