I putting together a low cost stroker motor ,
as far as rods go 454 to 496 used the same stock lenghtrods right??? i ask becaues i have a set of stock 454 rods that i got new and would like to use them in my next set up. i understand that
.060 over 454 pistons is what go's into a 496 motor I'm not trying to may a big doller forged crank set up hears what i would like to do
SCAT CAST 4.250 CRANK
STOCK 454 RODS WITH ARP ROD BOLTS
SPEED PRO FORGED PISTONS .060
I would like to be at 10.25 or 10.5 to 1 CR
I have a fresh set of 781 1.190/1.880 heads
can someone help me get the part # from SPEED PRO that would help me reach this goal

Sorry, but 60 over is a 468. You will have to stroke it to make 496 (6.385 rods).

YA I got that part, thats why i said that I will be going with a 4.250 SCAT CRANK , so will this 496 work with stock 454 rods? I'm not sure of the rod lenght on stock 454 rods .

JMHO the hp ratio compared between a 496 and 468 aint worth the trouble (expense)

Yes it will work with stock rods (6.135) & the correct Speed Pro piston but my suggestion is to do it right the first time.

If you use a 6.385 rod & a crank designed for the longer rod with a reasonable weight piston you will be able to internally balance it without Tungsten which is very expensive.
The Speed Pro's weigh about 4 tons each :D & are going to make balancing kinda expensive, with a stock rod / cast crank deal.

I'm feel ya, that would be the correct way to go, but like i said i want to see if i can put together a low cost motor useing cast off the shelf parts, see this motor/car will be sold sooner or later so i just want to build a big torqe and if i can get high HP out of it great .
its going to be for the street and for monster tire smoking(fun) NOW WHATS THIS ABOUT THE 468 BEING THE SAME AS THE 496??? let me in on this ,what ever motor can get me the torqe/hp for the lowest price LET ME KNOW
