Im going too put a console in my 68 El Camino. I was wondering Where almost exactly it supposed too be in the car. And where the shifter supposed too be. Is there some kind of marking under the carpet where the console and shifter is supposed too be or what. I thought i saw where the shifter cable hole indent where the cable is supposed to go threw for the floor shift car. If there are indents like that one, please tell me. It would save me alot of time and adjusting where the shifter and console goes. Or at least point me too the right direction. Thanks Mark

If your floor isnt all hacked up there should be little divits like a punch mark where the bolts should be. I just centered mine around the shifter and made sure it followed the floor contours nicely and drilled new holes.

Hey Chris. Thanks. I saw the ones for the back of the shifter. But not for the front. Ill look again, maybe ill just make holes for the front. Ill Need too take the carpet off to see if theres some for the back of the console. Thanks Mark

did you say this is floor shift? If its the horseshoe shifter the dimples are where you attatch the shifter and then the console goes onto the holes on top of the shifter.. if that makes sense

are you looking for mounting holes on the shifter? I believe the console has mounts on the front that mounts to the floor trans/tunnel further up from the shifter.
I mounted mine by using one bolt inside the box, one in the middle (between the shifter and box) and one at the very front of the console. It is very solid.
