I just purchased a complete front disc conversion kit for my 69 Malibu. I also opted for complete set of lines, and got a set of rear wheel cylinders to complete the system. Without a lift, I am guessing it will probably take me about 8-10 hours to : swap both the spindles, mount the calipers and swap the master cylinder, intall the prop valve and swap in new rear wheel cylinders. Maybe another 5 hours to swap all the lines and bleed the system. Do you think my 13-15 hours is right? What do you think this job would take at a shop with a lift, air tools and a guy that turns wrenches for a living? I'm trying to decide if I am going to do it myself in two or three weekends, or bring it in and have it done in a day or two. Thanks.

Probably close, but the question is, what kind of shape are your front end components in? As long as you are at it........................:beers:

Who do you trust more to work on your car. I personally trust me more than anyone else to do the best possible job and spend the extra time to do it all right. I suppose there are great mechanics out there but I havent found anyone more dependable than me :)
If you think that you are capable of the job, do it yourself and have a mechanic look it over after if you are worried.

I think 13-15 sounds right. I converted my 68 last summer and ran into a few problems with parts. I would change the ball joints while you have the spindles off. That will add some time to the job, may not be bad if the ball joints have been replaced already and bolted in.

The rest of the front suspension was done about two years ago, when I was getting ready for the big block. Thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty confident in my own work, but I would hate to ruin my new ball joints when replacing the spindles. Suspension work isn't something I do very often.

Im not certain but can you get to the rear brake line clamp bolt without lifting the body? I know on my 70 I ended up not using the one clamp that goes up around the hump by the rear axle. Jim
