One company I called I ask if they were considered deep groove pulleys and he said no which I grately respect. He said most companys aren't. My question is are some of the big name company pulleys deep groove??? Don't want any issues with belt fling etc.?

SLP and I think ground up might carry them as well. Summitt can get you one as well. Try March and Concept One too.

I dunno about other guys, but to me, deep groove pulleys seem like a Band-Aid fix. If everything is in-line (both static and dynamic situations), running the correct speed (e.g. not too fast), a standard pulley would be fine.

I don't think GM and Moroso would put band-aids on HI-PO cars with all the $$$$ research they have!! graemlins/sad.gif

I've logged well over 600 passes on my 454 with stock pulleys,,,shift at 6000 occasionally 6500 and I have never thrown a belt. I've had a spare belt in my parts box that I take with me to the track,it will probably dry rot before I get to use it...maybe thats the ticket, carry a spare and you'll never need it graemlins/thumbsup.gif If the pulleys line up,you will not throw a belt.

I agree ..... alignment is a major issue AND having the correct belt width and depth for whatever pulley you use , deep pulleys certainly have there place but won't help if the above is not correct .......if you decide you need deep pulleys for true competition hardedned aluminum pulleys and good tech info go to Jones Performance, do a Google search it may be Jones Racing Products can't recall... not overpriced glitzy stuff FWIW

I don't think GM and Moroso would put band-aids on HI-PO cars with all the $$$$ research they have!! Yes, but that GM technology (deep groove pulleys) is well-over 30-years-old (Moroso's pretty dated too)...
Back then there was alot of tolerance with "stamped" steel and cast iron pulleys... Now days, CNC machining will typically make a much more accurate and quality product...
I had the stock deep groove pulleys and NEVER lost a belt. But I also had a non-deep groove pulley for the PS, and never lost a belt there either (despite 7000+ rpm)... Careful aligning and tensioning...
Now I run March pulleys, and have not experienced any belt loss either...
