Hey guys, I want to upgrade my fuel system to 1/2" this winter and have some questions about doing it.
1. Is their a "soft"line that doesn't emit fuel odor?
2. If I go hard line will I be causing future headaches using aluminum or should I just go right to stainless?
3. Which fittings work the best and are the least overall hassle?
4. Do I need an electric pump or can I use a mechanical and what would the benefit be one way or the other?
Thanks guys I plan on racing the car every now and then but really more street car than anything. Its a 468 with 990 heads and solid roller and holley strip dominator. I really like my engine as is, but I only have stock 5/16 fuel line and only want to do it once. Thanks for all the help you guys have given me.

I just recently installed 1/2" fuel line in my Chevelle to feed my 540. I tried to replicate as much of the factory stuff as I could with stainless tubing. Of course I had to get an expensive bender to do it. I then used Russell braided hose on the ends with Russell AN fittings. I've never had a problem with gas odor before with Russell hoses (but I take it others have).

I think it's prudent and safe to run stainless instead of aluminum. Aluminum can fatigue and break. And I can't imagine that you would gain enough in weight to really make a difference.

I am running a Carter 172 mechanical pump.

Good luck! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
