I'm putting an external fuel gauge on the outside of the car and was wondering what would be the correct way to plum this up.Should I tap in from the mech, fuel pump outlet or from the 1/8 npt on my fuel log,and run the line along the log to the gauge? Thanx as always

who's there? Oh,....I have my gauge fitting mounted at the rail up by the carb. I don't run a regulator, just the big carter mech pump. If I had a regulator setup, I would take it from the port at the regulator. Don't skimp on the fittings and braided line either. Not something you want to have leaking.

Thanks!
You won't see it in that pic. I used to have a mech gauge. Ran from the fuel log to the firewall to an isolator and then from the isolator to the gauge inside the vehicle. Last year I installed new gauges an have an electrical fuel pressure gauge. The sending unit is mounted right at the fuel log and the wire runs to the gauge inside the vehicle. The reason I went with the electrical gauge is because it has a hi-low memory recall feature. I always forgot to look at the gauge during a full pass at the track. Now when I go back into the pits, I can push the button on it and it tells me what the hi reading and low readings were.
