225/70-15 is a pretty good size tire in that space. do you have disc brakes? If so the wheel is moved a little further out in the wheel well. have 215/70-15 on mine to clear. JB

Jerry is right, my 225/70/15's rub sometimes, depending on turn/road/load. The only time they 'fit' was with BB spring in a SB car. Then the nose is up and the ride is harsh.

The 225's will probably work with a 4.5 inch b/s wheel. I'm using a stock 15x7 GM wheel with a 4 inch b/s.

no i dont have disc brakes but i want to change them over later the tires rub with a little turn right and more so on left turns like i said the chevelle wagon springs are rated at 2050lbs and the stock are3 1885lbs

You have to measure the back-spacing. The distance from the mounting pad (where the rim hits the hub) to the bead surface on the back of the rim. You'll need a straightedge.

An online search of tire wheel backspacing might get you a diagram to help you along.

Rob - you may need to trade in your car for a caddy if you think the 380lb BB spring is harsh! hahaha! Too high yes, BB or worse with a SB. I drive on very rural (crappy) roads and I wouldn't call my 650lb springs harsh. Not even close. My acural tl was much harsher (sp?) and it was supposed to be a 4 passenger sedan. I'm going to send you a boppy pillow for Christmas! (remember those?)

My 67 big block car would sometimes rub the tires on the front fender a set of QA1 coil overs fixed it it, there ajustable for stiffness and ride hieght.

Rick - I think they will, plus the added strength will reduce the roll slightly.
I have 275s with 17x9.5 5.5 bs on the front. With stock BB springs There was approximately 6-7 inches of soft travel over bumps. I fixed that by going to a much stiffer spring, and was even able to lower the front end by 1.5". If your problem was bottoming out on the inner fender well over bumps, The stiffer spring may help you like it did for me. If you are just rubbing on the frame or sway bar when turning at full lock, the spring is not likely to change anything.

I used to run 225/50s on 15x7 3.75bs with no rubbing ever, but your 70's are taller.

side note to Rob - I hope you know I was just ribbing you in my post about the Caddy! The boppy pillow on the otherhand.... hahahaha

thanks all i have put the bb springs on today and it did fix the rubbing of the fender well but now the front end is higher than the rear would adjustible air ride suspension on the rear take care of this or since i put bb springs on front end are the springs on the rear heavery duty for the big block vs the sb thinking if i put bb on the front then i need bb on rear
