I too am very interested in this kit. I hope some members have used this kit and can comment. By the way, are you doing front and rear or just front?

Looking to do the front and rear as they have a crazy deal going on the system, front and rear for $1200 13" and 12"

I just looked and saw the front and rear system for $1498 on the website. What is the deal that you speak of. I don't have any experience, but am interested as that kit for $1200 just might trump the C5 setup on all four wheels...if it is worthy.

I have the Big brake kit on my '66. It is very nice for the money and I am about to do the rear in a few weeks. If anyone has any questions let me know I know Aaron at CPP personally and he is willing to answer questions for folks as well.

Here is a link to a previous post that shows a few pics of the car so far.
I have a bunch of other pics as well if anyone is interested.

I picked up the big brake kit from CPP I didn't have the funds to swing the powder coated calipers but they look good none the less I got the front and rear along with a few other items, all in all I ended up spending around $1750 I started putting on the rears first as i had to remove the axles and whatnot, but everything went smoothly, the fronts went on with out a hitch all in all it took about 2 hours to install everything i already had the lines bent up so they were already installed, as well as a master cylinder and prop valve that were on the car already.
My 8 year old son helped me bleed the system and that went off with out a hitch, got the car back on the ground and took out for a quick run up and down the street the car didn't stop as I hoped it would, but I think that was due to the existing MC and prop valve I had on the car I am going to change the MC and prop valve to the one that came with the kit I think that will make a big difference, I also bought the 2" dropped spindles to go with the kit I have to say that this kit was extremely easy to install. I am definitely happy with my purchase!! I will keep you posted on the MC swap and i am also going to install my power booster back onto the car as well I will keep you posted.

PS Thanks for the feedback from the members regarding this kit!

Great to hear the install was pretty straight-forward. Please do update us with the improvements (if any) when you install the new MC and booster. I am debating between a 9" booster, 8" dual booster, or a hydraboost.

Based on everything i have heard about the Hydroboost that is the way to go! I just didnt have the cash flow to make the extra purchase!

GSOUPME.... I'd like those pics too. I should have my email listed in my profile. Thanks!

GTHMCTY1... I hear good things about the hydroboost as well. I don't have power steering...yet. But am planning to do it. Most likely will do PS before or at the same time as the brakes, so I'll have everything in place to do the hydroboost.

I hear ya on the cashflow...I'm saving all my pennies now to do the next batch of upgrades. I figured while I have the brake swap going on, might as well do the control arms (front and rear) too. Will look into the rest of the steering components as they are probably original and could use updating with new Moog parts.

Much more happier with the results now that I have changed it. It stops EXTREMELY well! I highly recommend the big brakes for anyone that is looking to upgrade!!

Anyone run these with Vintage Wheel Works wheels? Or how does the clearance compare to C5 brakes?

I see that CPP has templates (or so they say on the website), but I couldn't find them to download...

I know the wheels I want to run, but I don't have them yet...

L78 what sizes wheels are they? CPP suggest a 17 inch for the 13", I must this system was extremely easy to install and after all said and done it was well worth the $1200 for front and rear disc brakes!

The wheels are 17X9.5... These calipers are larger than the C5 calipers I used, and clearance was very tight (less than 1/8" radially). The wheels actually rubbed the caliper slightly, and had to add a thin spacer (I'd do it again, IF thats all it takes)...

I emailed CPP, and I am awaiting a response (requested a template)...

How "thick" are the front rotors?

I will measure when I get home tonight I can't remember honestly. I have a 17 inch spare lying around I will throw it on tonight and let you know the out come it is a 17x8 wheel. i will snap a digital of it as well and post it up on here for you.

I installed this kit on my '66 and I'm having nothing but problems with it. The installation was great, but the car dose not want to stop. I have bled the system several times and had it done by the local shop once with a vaccum bleeder. The peddal is spungy and will go to the floor if pushed hard enough. The rears work well but the fronts just don't grab. I was told by another company that the problem is with "mismatched" caliper styles? The fronts are newer and need a quick take up master while the rears are older and do not use much fluid to work? Every time I call CPP I'm on hold for over an hour and get no where. I went with the manuel and not power assisted set up, but it's the same kit as yours. Makes me feel a little better that yours has worked out well, I might have just got a bad master off the shelf?

Well maybe I spoke to soon, I was driving the car to go and get it aligned and as I am driving the brakes would NOT release they stayed engaged i haven't had a chance to check it out yet but I am not going to get discouraged I think it is something simple. I will keep you posted.

66SS are you using the prop valve that came with the system or are you using like a T section to distribute the pressure? I had the brake setup originally using 1 line coming off the master cylinder and going to a T for the fronts and I couldn't get them to bleed the way I needed them to, I then used the MC and prop valve setup (bench bleed the MC first very important) and after I did that things different turned around. I initially was using it as a manual setup and then I installed my power booster as well. Hope this helps

This is what I worry about...

I sent that email asking about the "easy to use template", but I have heard nothing...

Personally, I don't care how busy you are, if you are going to have a website with an email/info line, then you should at least answer the emails...

Its not really a GREAT deal, just a little bigger than the C5 stuff...

Update....

Talked to the guys over at CPP and come to find out that I had the rod going into the MC was too long (it was being pre-loaded), lucky for me it had threads on it and it was adjustable so I turn it down a few turns and presto no more lock up but man these brakes stop pretty damn good! just need to go get it aligned now!

I am using the master and prop valve they sent me in the kit. The front line dose come off the prop valve and down to a "T" fitting on the frame just as the original set up did. I wonder if I should come off the prop valve with both lines going directly to each caliper like the later model cars are set up?
