Just bought a 509 rotating assembly off ebay mainly for the wiseco pistons 10 to 1 with 119cc head ( only gave $300 w/shipping). The rotating assembly is completly balanced and consists of the wiseco pistons, GM truck rods w/ARP bolts/ pressed pin, GM 70's cast crank crossdrilled & balanced to the rods/pistons, and a SCAT fluid dampner. I plan on running a solid cam which would make power to 3000-6500 and is for street use only no slicks,etc.. I dont plan on beating the **** out of the motor. Car has stock suspension under it. I still have the stock 502 steel crank & 7/16's rods. The guy I got the stuff from went to a 540 but ran this setup in a 69 camaro street/strip car ran low 11's with slicks. My question is should this hold up in a street car???? or should I keep the stock steel crank??? the 7/16 rods???? Im kinda leaning towards running the truck rods (much lighter), but keeping the stock steel crank. If for nothing else, for resale If I decide to sell the motor down the line. If I sell the stock JE pistons&7/16 rods I should be able to cover the cost of the 509 parts.
