I'm currently installing a vintage air unit on my '64 chevelle. It is a direct fit unit and my car was a factory NON air unit. It uses the stock cables to control the unit...however, the wiring diagram is different because I am using a Painless wiring kit. Can anybody help???

Vintage Air uses their own wiring harness, right? It should just connect to power, etc. SHouldn't be a big deal if you know where the Painless wires go to. It's a little hard without seeing the diagram.

Use the vintage wiring and relays.
For the incoming power I just connected the the Heat/Blower circuit with a 30 amp fuse.
The blower wire on my Centech harness was a pretty good size and after looking into wire gage size and length of the run (less than 3 ft), the harness wire was heavy enough.

I am installing vintage air into my 64 Chevelle and have a problem with the wire diagram. The vintage air diagram shows a 65 Chevelle Heater wiring harness color which doesn't match my 64 Chevelle heater wire harness colors.
I think these three wires determine the high, medium and low blower speed.
What size engine do you have in your car.?

You know what, guys, just pick up the phone and call Vintage Air. I found them to be super nice folks and they helped me solve any problems when I put mine in my car. They didn't even leave me on hold!!!

Or.......Return the DirectFit and get a GenII. Especially for a car that didn't have a/c to begin with. The GenII is self-contained and is a simple plug-and-play system. I used the GenII Compac and it only required a power lead. My Painless harness hooked-up to it no problem. My car was factory air and there's STILL no way i'd buy a so-called "direct fit" from anybody. With the dash out, total install time was less than 3hrs not including making-up the a/c hoses. Got mine from American Pastimes in Sacramento (they're a stocking distributor for VintageAir) and they even loan you the crimping tool to make the hoses. Even with putting the dash back in and running the air hoses to the ducts, it was a 1 day job. Just something to consider.
