smoke on deceleration usually means valve guides or seals are worn...How can it bellow black smoke when your foot is off the gas?

Robert's correct, but when I ran NO exhaust valve seals, it was a bluish-white smoke typical of oil. Little puffs out the pipes, NOT something you would see in the rear-view mirror, something I saw when Framer was driving my car.
High vaccum signal = big time rich condition, eh? Sounds strange. Could be anything from an intake gasket not sealing well ( and high vacuum causing it to suck from the lifter galley), to something amiss on the carb, i.e., a float that's sticking?
You have a PCV hooked up?

no pvc provision on the mighty demon, well there is one larger port in the rear of the carb that is being used for power brakes....didnt have pvc before i changed fuel system didnt smoke, its not burning oil its definitely fuel.did have some troubles with float adjustments after taking her up she would start flooding to the point of having to have my foot on the pedal at 2000 r's just to get her home.....

could it be that i'm pushing to much fuel at high rpm's and when i let off the fuel is seeping into the venturi's via the boosters.

If it idles ok so you know it isn't flooding or leaking first thing I would look at is the float setting, esecially the rear one.
Could be it is so high you are pulling fuel into the boosters if it is high enough.
Kinda like water, fuel will run downhill :D
Also, it would probably be a good idea to put a guage on it to see what the pressure is at higher RPM.

I had an engine like that.
Oil rings were shot. High vacuum pulled oil past the rings and it was like a smokescreen behind the car.

its a new motor, that was built by myself and i'm confident in my work...once again it is fuel not oil i can smell it, have owned nothing but edelbrock carbs, will never own one again what a DIFFERENCE,just cant wait to get to know my demon like i knew the edelbrock/carters.
wolfplace thank you i know my problem lyes in the floats, put a gauge on the fuel inlet to the carb has 7.5/8.0 psi. at idle is it possible for the pump to pump more pressure at higher r's.
