Lionel-n-Chevelles Jul 24th, 07, 12:57 PM As long as it is a rust free car, I would say that $15-$18K would not be out of line. I purchased my Original 76,000 mile 66 Chevelle SS for $15K back in 2004. All paperwork, tired original paint, but a rust free, damage free body. Make sure the VIN starts with 138.
Hope this helps,
Tory
138car Jul 24th, 07, 1:09 PM If you are looking to buy the car based on originality, I would suggest you take many pictures and ask many questions(perhaps in the restoration corner) There are some people here that have a lot of 68 knowledge. You may also want to enlist the help of someone knowledgeable about Chevelles to inspect the car. A little work upfront and possibly a few dollars spent can save much frustration down the road. Post some pictures if you have them.
RAMBO Jul 24th, 07, 4:04 PM are you asking how much its worth, so you can make an educated offer, or asking how much its worth to guage if the guys asking price is out of line or not...
Car prices vary wildly with no seeming rhyme or reason.
If you know the asking price, tell us, and we can help guage if its in line with the car- otherwise people here are just pulling numbers out of the dark...
An EXCELLENT condtion true SS, w/ numbers matching engine, etc etc should easily be worth more than the $15k-$18k someone mentioned above.
tjacruise Jul 24th, 07, 4:39 PM Ben,
The lady is asking 21,000.00.She bought it new and her husband was having it painted and he died.SO i saw it before the paint job and not a spot of rust anywhere. The whole car is in great shape.I can't find anything wrong. The chrome, interior and vinyl top is perfect. The new paint is flawless.it seems to me it is a little under priced compared to what others i have seen. But i'm not a expert.Does the shifter on the wheel or the split bench seat make it less desirable or how about the year or the white color?
138car Jul 24th, 07, 5:49 PM To be honest the white and bench column shift automatic is less desirable than say a fathom blue four speed car. What options does the car have? What cole is the interior? Does the car have any documents ie. the POP, bill of sale, window sticker? Pictures go a long way here.
hurstL78 Jul 24th, 07, 7:13 PM where are you located at?I could possibily go with you to look at the car with you to give you my opinion or maybe just show you what to look for.
