I posted once before in bench racing about my son's '96 Cutlass with a 3.1 liter V6 but now that I have driven it, I see that the problem is a little different than he described. When accelerating from a stop using what would be a normal amout of gas pedal, the engine boggs down. When the gas pedal is really mashed it will take off like a shot. It has a new air filter, fuel filter, tune up, and has had fuel injector cleaner run though the intake. Anybody have any suggestions?

Oxygen sensor, catalytic converter,throttle position sensor, thats about all I know about newer cars :D .

Get it scanned, too many possibilities. could be Mass air flow sensor too. See what I mean?

Going off what Leo is asking. Is the check engine light on?

When my brother was working at Autozone, a guy came in with a 3.1 V6 Malibu. Just like my brother's daily driver. Was having problems like you described. My brother change out the PCV valve for him and all was fine.

Who knows, cheap thing to try out.

The check engine light is not on. I will change the PCV valve and see what happens. Thanks!
