Here it is:
454 bored .030
"781" heads with 2.19/1.88 valves installed
Edelbrock Performer RPM
Edelbrock 800 cfm (elec. choke)
Comp Cams Magnum 280H (230 in/ex .520 in/ex 110 deg ls)
http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Catalogs/106-03/HTML/172-195.html
TRW-L2399F30 pistons with .095 dome
1.75"x3" Summit headers to 2 1/2" exhaust

I'm wondering approximately how much HP this engine will produce and what advice anyone may have. Thanks smile.gif

Well, I have a friend that ran that cam, same heads but small valves (2.06 / 1.72) in a 427 and ran a best of 12.30 at 108. That was with a 3500 stall and 4.10's. Nice street car.

I also ran that cam once upon a time with 8.5 comp. stock everything and ran 12.75 with a 4 speed.

I had the same package with 11:1 pistons and 2" headers, 3:73 gears, 3200 stall and 28" tires in a heavy convertible and ran 12.60s @ 106. That was shifting at 5000 rpm. Great low end torque, didn't produce much more power over 5500 rpm which was OK with me.

You can get Speed Pro hypertectics that have teflon coated skirts with .100 dome..they're ALOT cheaper than the LF2399..in fact, about $200 cheaper.
I run them in my 454
Sounds like a fun combo that should run strong at the track with some traction.

Compression is going to be less than 9:1 and it's going to be real hard to make real good power. The cam should be ok.

I agree it will be a great street car with about 375 HP at the crank @5000rpms, decent torque (450lbs or so), and will probably run on 89 octane.

I would put about a 2200 stall in it and have fun around town!

My guess is mid-high 13's at the track. Low 13's-high 12's properly tunned for the track.

I just noticed you have 781 heads..you'll want either the KB hypertectics with a .133 dome for around 9.2 or so,or the .270 dome LS6 style hypertectics for around 10.8 or so..and they'll still be cheaper than the LF2399's and you'll have good compression.

I did a quick calc. and those pistons would give you around 8.75-1 compression. A little low for best performance. You could probably run 87 unleaded with them though. I would consider your combo as middle of the road. It should be a nice driver and is mild enough to be used as a daily driver if needed in a pinch, but still pretty healthy. I would guess hp in the 425-450 range and it should have low to mid 12 second potential. You won't need alot of converter or gear. I would think a 11 inch (2200-2700 stall) and a 3.31-3.55 gear would complement the combo.

No way that combo makes 425-450 HP, 375 at the most. unless compression is bumped to 10:1

Ixnay on getting 425 to 450 hp - that is a 350ish hp engine. Remember guys, when an engine is set up for low compression and low 5,000 rpm performance the hp will not be great - that does not mean torque will be lacking. Use the low end grunt properly and you could see upper 12's at the drags - but don't be disappointed if very low 13's is all you get. It will be an utterly reliable long lasting nice runniing combo.

My 405 small block made 440hp@5300 on the dyno with a XE268 cam (224/230@.50) and the 280 cam is 230/230. I figure with the big valves in the heads and almost 9-1 it should easily crack 400hp. But like you said, with the torque that combo should make the car should be pretty quick.
