Does anyone know where to get the engine stands that you can hook your motor to and start it? (The engine stands with a radiator and the whole works) And also, approx. how much do they cost?...or even better yet if someone has built their own, what are the dimensions? Thanks for the help! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I will put a pic of my stand in my sig for you
later tonight. It has a running 400 on it right
know. I still need to finish the rest of it but
it is servicable as it is.

I cant find any pictures? It says (0 photos) next to it. Did you build your stand yourself, or is it not even worth the time it takes to build it?

Well, there is supposed to be 6 pics there. Epson
might not have them posted yet, I will check to
make sure I did not do anything wrong.
Yes I built it myself and I am going to build
another after I finish messing with this one
to make it suite me better. This one is all
stainless steel tubing, I still need to mount
my rad. support, battery tray and gauge pod
mount.
I do wish I had made it about 4 inches shorter.
It is really taller than I had meant for it to be.
If you have any questions just ask.

My mistake, I left them in my in folder and forgot
to move them to the Engine file.
They are where they are supposed to be now.
Sorry about that.

Thanks for showing me the pics. What kind of mufflers would be best to use while its on the engine stand? Because even with really restrictive mufflers its still gonna be loud. Which doesnt bother me, but I live in the city and dont want to draw too much attention to my garage. Thanks again.

Ive answered a question like this before Engine test stand (http://www.chevelles.com/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=013464)

Mine are just Thrush mufflers with the collector
flange so that they bolt right up to the headers.
They are still loud but I have good neighbors and
none of them have complained even with me running
it late at times.
Be sure to have some ventalation though, you could
kill yourself pretty easy in a tight garage from
the exhaust fumes.
I have my front support for the radiator made, I
just have not mounted it yet.

If several of you are interested (including me), I will design a stand for testing our engines and have my local metal fab guy weld it up and see how it turns out and what the cost is. I'm guessing no more than $200 for a solid stand. I am a structural designer and think I can come up with a good design for minimal money and materials. ;) I could even send you the design for you to fab yourself.

The cost would probably be much less than $200 and I would send you the plans for FREE so you could build it yourself for peanuts. Let me know.
I'm going to start designing it this evening.

Let me know how the plans turn out! We should design them with the heaviest gauge metal possible while keeping the cost resonable, so it can handle a motor with decent power. :D Is the stand going to be able to accept ford's and mopar's too? (I know they are'nt Chevy's, but business is business) graemlins/thumbsup.gif
