Is it safe to install a completes sound system, radio, speakers, sub whoofer, amp unit in a brand new car? My son sold his old car and wanted to install this system in the new car. However, I feel that if something is improperly connected, altering the original wiring to suit the installation, may bring unforseen electrical problems which may even void the factory warranty. Even when installed by reputable shops, mistakes can happen. I've had this same problem years ago when I had an alarm system installed by a reputable auto alarm shop in my car. It worked fine for a couple of years, then I started having electrical issues all related to the alarm installation which had to be removed. Luckully, no damage was done.

Generally yes, but that depends on what being installed. If it's a system that pulls very large amounts of power, wiring and maybe the alternator may have to be upgraded.

If it's under warranty, I would check with the dealer first to make sure you don't void anything. If you do upgrade the head unit, it's easy; you really have to try to mess that up. I use a solder for my connections, wire nuts work, but solder is the best. The AMP is where I see most of the crappy installs. I would recommend spending the $100 and get a GOOD AMP wiring kit (power, ground and turn on wires, RCA cables, battery terminal, fuse, wire insulators and zip ties); get one size bigger than the package recommends. The 2 places that people mess up on is correctly connecting it to the battery and making sure you have a proper ground. The kit should come with a new connection for the battery and an inline fuse before the AMP. With the ground, make sure you get a really good ground to the fame and use a wire that is less than 24 inches. Don't be afraid to sand the paint away. The door speakers and sub are easy. Again, spend a little more on good speaker wire (you don't have to spend $300 on monster cable, but better than what comes with the speakers), it makes a big difference. I like to put my amps on the sub box so they are easy access through the fold down seat (2001 Cavalier), but you can always hide them under the seats as well. Keep us posted with the progress, I would say go for it!

Crutchfield has install kits for lots of cars. No soldering needed, they have connectors on both ends to mate the stero and the car. Makes it easy to put the old radio back in if you ditch the car.
