gold69chevelle

I'm new here, and just purchased a 1969 Chevelle with front drum brakes. The car has 15 inch Weld Draglites all around, but only 3.5 inch rims up front. I want to put some meat up there by purchasing matching but wider front wheels, but don't want the new wheels to interfere with my plans for a disc brake conversion.
Should I go with 7" or 8" wheels? What tire size? and finally, what wheel offset would work with the current front drum brakes and the future disc brake conversion? I want to get these wheels on the car ASAP. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thanks goatman70, but I did check it out. I didn't find any specific info regarding wheels that would work now with my front drum brakes that would also work later after a disc brake conversion. I'll keep trying.

James,If you are planning to use aftermarket wheels try contacting the company making them and they should be able to help you pick your whells.Your wheels have to clear the calipers. If you use Chevrolet Rally Sports 7'' or 8'' or Corvette aluminum type used on the 73 thru 82 cars they are bolt ons.But there are after market wheels as well that will work.Pick your wheel and again contact the maker, they should have the information needed.Later Geno

James, I recently converted my '69 to disc and went with 15x8 SS wheels all the way around w/235 on front with no problems.

I just bought a disc brake conversion kit for my '68. Each kit has different specific requirements for the minimum size rim you can use. The larger the disc, the larger the rim! Check out SSBC, they h ave some great kits, not cheap, but why use cheap brakes?!

My 68 has 15 x 8 with a 4.5 bs on the front. I had them on before the disc brake conversion.

My stock front disc brakes on my 70 SS are no problem for my 14x6.75 slots with 4" bs.
The rims I had on before them were 14x7 with 3" bs and they worked fine also.
