The lower side of the fan shroud on the passenger side was covered with oil (not much) after a short test ride.Pulled the engine from 3000 to 5000 nothing harder........And the lower water hose was also somewhat covered with oil on the upperside only (the side that is away from the engine), but I think that comes from starting the fan......I have ruled out the head and the front of the oilpan, also the cam cover is checked.....The drivers side is absolutely dry, The whole engine compartment apart from the fanshroud is in fact leakfree !!!! Any ideas ? My guess is the fuelpump plate (I have electrical pumps)

Any ideas ?
Whatca working on?
On a small block there is a hole in the front of the block on the passenger's side that is used to screw a longer bolt into to hold the fuel pump push rod up while installing a new fuel pump.
It's the upper hole of the two
Check it out and see if there is a bolt sealed in the hole.

Swede,
If the bolt that Dean mentioned is missing, make sure the one you install is very short, no more than 1/2" of threads. If its too long it will go through and bind up the fuel pump pushrod.

Thanks Bill, I should have mentioned that :o
I bought a 78 4x4 with a 400 small block (actually repossed it but that's a long story)
Anyway my X son-in-law thought the engine was shot because it had oil everywhere on the passenger's side AND was knocking.
Turned out, that bolt was missiong and the balancer was hitting on the crossmember due to shot motor mounts.
It's got a heck of a good motor in it.

It don't matter, the hole still needs to be sealed.
Maybe a short bolt isn't neccessary with no push rod but I would still use a short bolt anyawy.

A couple of other things to check-If you have clutch on the fan it may be leaking. Also the fluid may be coming fron the transmission cooler in the radiator. You may be leaking AC fluids. DG
