I just got a new flowmaster exhaust yet i dont have a welder! I have to weld the collectors on so i was just going to take it to a shop and get them to weld EVERYTHING on instead of using the clamps. So, i call up about 4 shops and they say it will cost around $500!!!!!!!!1 What the hell!!!!!! I have the WHOLE SYSTEM AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY $500 DOLLARS TO JUST INSTALL IT!!!!! So, I was thinking of just getting my collectors welded on(eventhough they want $25 a for each weld!!!) then use the supplied clamps to install the rest. My question is: do the clamps secure effectively against leaks or not? Also, isn't $500 outrageous?? Or is that the standard?? I called like 4 other shops and they quoted the same thing!

it should be about 2 hours labor. 80.00 an hour is 160.00, plus misc 40.00, plus gratuity.

Yeah, definately call around some more. Did you make it clear you had all of the stuff and just needed it installed?? Most shops around here (Pasadena area) will build a full setup with aftermarket mufflers like flowmasters all their stuff provided for $300-500. I'd call around some more.

I had the same kit installed for 200, other shops were less. This is in the Sacramento area.

I second that. There are at least 2 shops in the Sacto area offering complete Flowmaster systems installed for $325. Keep looking.

Why not do it yourself and then have a shop weld it where it needs it?
The Flowmaster system is pretty easy to install..even a novice can handle it smile.gif

JMHO and experience.
A job like that for a shop is all cash too,and should be no more than $150 tops,and that would include welding it,but again,why not do it yourself.

That is F'd up bad!

I only paid $170 for my duals and the only thing I had was the mufflers, headers and collectors!

The guy did all the mandrel bending on 2.25 pipe and installed it in a day for that. (all the way over the rear axle no less)

I clamped mine and welded the collectors.
