The top plate has a chrome type center for boot,
Is there another piece required to install the upper console boot or is it held in place with plastic retainer pieces?

Neither the Assembly Instruction Manual nor the Chevrolet parts book I have show any clips, nuts, etc. for the screws (identified as #8-18x9/16) holding the upper seal or retainer, not even J-nuts. Been a while since I had a console in my ex-67 but I don't ever remember any other than the 4 screws holding the chrome retainer to the console assy.
