I'm getting ready to swap the sweep style dash with an SS dash in my '72. The odometer on the new speedometer is set at 000000. Not even considering state law yet, what is the appropriate thing to do, set it to match the actual current mileage? And if so, how would I do that without damaging the new speedometer? Sorry for the dumb question, I've never done this before. Thanks in advance.

You could hook up a dremel to the end of the speedo cable. Personally, I just finished mine, and consider it reborn. Nothing else has the same mileage, so to me it didn't make sense to change it from 0.
