jfkheat Jul 20th, 07, 8:15 PM The auction listed below is for a 1968 deluxe steering wheel. They are very hard to find in good condition. There is one listed in the members classified area on this site.

1968Chevelle300Deluxe Jul 21st, 07, 8:51 AM ok, but i saw a lot of 300 Deluxe with the sports styled comfort grip/wooden steering wheel, i thought that was the deluxe steering wheel, do you know what emblem they put on the deluxe steering wheel for a 300 Deluxe??thanks Ryan
hurstL78 Jul 21st, 07, 6:33 PM I don't think that steering wheel on ebay is correct for a 300 deluxe, the 300 deluxe wheel resembles a '67 wheel more than the '68 malibu or SS,I don't have a picture right now because I'm getting mine redone but when I get it back I will post some pics.also a '68 300 and a '68 300 Deuxe are different,I think one a has a schroud and one doesn't.

1968Chevelle300Deluxe Jul 22nd, 07, 7:27 PM im just going to put one of the sport styled steering wheel on it, the original walnut steering wheel the 3 spoke
Joe Y Jul 23rd, 07, 12:36 AM 68's have two plastic wheels, the standard and the deluxe. The standard came on the 300s and the deluxe came on the malibu/SS.
1968Chevelle300Deluxe Jul 23rd, 07, 8:55 AM wait whats the standard look like? ive seen cars that had the sports steering wheels on them and they said it was ordered like that they were all 300 Cars too thanks Ryan
Merlin Jul 24th, 07, 9:58 AM The 68 standard wheel, as noted before, more closely resembles a 67 wheel. That is to say it is a 3-spoke design with round horn button marked "Chevelle" in the center. No shroud. The 68 standard deluxe wheel is a different 3-spoke design, and utilizes a 3-spoke shroud with two elongated horn buttons. An emblem in the center varies... I have seen deluxe wheel emblems that say Camaro, Impala, Malibu, Super Sport, SS, SS396, SS427, Beaumont, or simply have the blue bowtie, or in the case of a Concours, the Fleur de Lis (sp).
I don't think there was a comfort grip sport wheel for 1968. There was an optional sport wheel offered, also a 3-spoke design, but with brushed aluminum spokes, and a brushed aluminum center cap/horn button with red, white, and blue cloisonne. The actual wheel was either rose wood or walnut, real or simulated, I'm not certain. But not comfort grip.
The standard deluxe wheel was a dollar added option, so perhaps it could be ordered on a 300 model. Maybe all Malibus automatically came with the standard deluxe... I cannot say. But as easily as these wheels are removed and installed, I would assume that every conceivable combination of 1968 wheel and 1968 Chevelle model exists today!

What is the Fleur de Lis????
Merlin Jul 25th, 07, 11:15 AM James, The emblem you have from the big Pontiac Parisienne is a new one to me. Thanks for the heads up.
Ryan, the Fleur de Lis is a stylized flower design of European origin, most commonly associated with but not limited to, French heraldry and the French Monarchy.
