As some of you may have read recently, I have purchased a 68 Chevelle now that my 4 year project 68 Camaro is nearing the end. From what I have noticed while shopping for repro sheetmetal, the Chevelle parts seem to be much higher than similiar Camaro parts. The fenders and quarter skins seem much higher than I expected. Anyone want to throw out some dealers that sell sheetmetal reasonable? thanks in advance, Kevin

if you want sheetmetal cheap your better off going to the Pittsburg parts-a-rama because i got quarter skins for my 68 Chevelle for $100.00ea from a dude that sells a lot of sheetmetal and i called luttys to bring brand new 68 fenders to the swap meet and it didnt cost me a dime in shipping i didnt even pay tax on them just like $319.00 on a repo and $475.00 some dollars for a pass. side GM fender the site to Luttys is www.luttyschevy.com (http://www.luttyschevy.com)

Why not try and find a local dealer? No shipping many times they are CHEAPER then the big boys.
Right here in Kansas City I have found 4 dealers all within a 15 min drive of my house, I push that drive to 40 mins am at 10-11 dealers.

I can SEE the parts that I have bought, I can load them up myself knowing they wont get damaged.

Some of the dealers that I go to are a few bucks higher, but I KNOW what am getting I can see the part am getting. Plus am not paying some crazy insane shipping charge.

On the fenders, Goodmark is currently not making them. They were having too many problems with the stampings. I bought a Dynacorn fender from NPD for $330.00. It fit ok but I had to cut the slot on the front of it to allow the grille to fit right. Also the threaded inserts for the hood hinges were the wrong size and I had to drill out and tap. The very front of the fender above the headlite bezels was not flat and needed some banging around to get right. All in all not too bad.

Thanks for the help guys. There is an NPD 30 minutes from me but I was hoping for someone cheaper. I just don't understand why the Chevelle metal is so much higher than the Camaro for the same year. I will bite the bullet and buy what I need, but was just hoping for a well kept secret...LOL. Kevin

don't know where in NC you are, but have you tried Ausley's in Graham? I have bought a ton of stuff from them with no problems

I've questioned that myself. I am a local distributer for goodmark here in Indiana and my cost on the camaro stuff is much less than the chevelle. I don't understand why,but it is. It makes no sense to me either. I wish I was close enough to help you out but shipping cost would kill you.
Good luck,
Stephanie
