I have a 71 chevelle with 502 and 700r4 on the column and want change it to floor shift. I need some instructions from you console conversion veterans (I know you are out there!) on how to do this. I am wondering where to weld the 1 and only bracket? Is exact placement not too crucial? If anyone can help out with instructions, measurements and/or pics I would appreciate it!

I'm doing this on my '72 right now. You find the position for the bracket after the shifter is mounted, which determines the location for the console itself. The bracket goes under the storage compartment where the fastner holes are.

Gotta agree with dfred19 on this one. It's not as straight forward as you would hope. Need to get everything in place and level and then mark it for drilling holes or whatever. It took some doing (for me anyway) to get the console just right. You can see pics of my install in a previous thread.
