I am in the process of replacing the gas tank to fuel pump line and the fuel log to tank line. I performed a search and read through the PITA issues of installing hard lines.
Are there any issues running fabric reinforced or steel reinforced rubber fuel lines? Anyone have any experience with these newer types of fuel lines. If so, what brand did you use?
I don't want to spend the money on steel braided lines....nor want the pain of installing hard lines.

I remember watching an episode of HorsePowerTV and they were mentioning a product sold by one of the major fitting manufacturers(Earls or Russell). It was an economy line which I believe used fabric reinforced steel.
I found a source for budget braided lines. I bought mine from a truck repair shop it is safe to use with fuel. The fittings were steel not alum and they cost a lot less. I also used 1/2 inch rubber from the tank to the filter which is just before the rear wheels. I will probably replace it with steel to conform to standards.

I'm kinda in the middle of the same dilema. I'm considering using that Russel fuel line that has the crimp-fittings but I never heard anything about 'em... I have no problem bending some tubing but flaring them and whatnot is the seriously sucky part.

I ran into someone who swears by aluminum tubing rolls, dirt cheap, easy to use, and aeroquip socketless stuff from the end of the "hard" line to the engine.
I guess the aeroquip line doesn't count as "rubber" line to the NHRA, even though it looks like rubber? I don't know.

Earl's makes a real good braided reinforced fuel line. It's quite expensive but you get what you pay for. Will cost $100+.

I ran the 1/2" aluminum tube from my tank along the frame. I have a piece of steel braided from the aluminum tube to the mechanical fuel pump and used Swage-Lock Stainless compression fittings (fittings good to 5000psi). I bent a 1/2" steel tube from the fuel pump to the regulator and two stainless tubes from the regulator to the carb/nitrous.
The aluminum is really easy to work and the steel lines are harder but borrow some good quality tube benders and make a couple, the tube is cheep. you only need a standard single flare so that is easy.
Thanks for all the responses.
My Q and A survey research sounds like safety is the primarry concern. Nothing like road shrapnel or a broken shaft slicing rubber.
Back to hardline options. Thanks again.
