I guess since owning 2 LS1's I am getting a little tired of have a car worth this amount of money and this nice just sitting 6 out of 7 days a week. I really miss having a fast car to drive to work when it is nice. Anyone else in this situation?

yeah but I'd never sell an appreciating asset and use the money to buy a depreciating asset.

I wound up picking a 88 Ford mustang lx 5.0 5spd a few months ago to cure the need for a fun car to drive to work. It was cheap clean and it is fun to drive. Since it was only a couple of thousand of dollars I still can keep my chevelle.

Only thing I wish is I had more covered parking space. Between the wife's GXP, the El Camino, and the Firebird, all my covered parking is full, leaving the daily drivers outside. Thus, the desire for a separate, six car workshop someday. ;) :D I don't drive the 'bird to work much these days, since they're in the middle of moving shops, and everyone's parking on the street. A friend's truck already got crunched by one of our own guys on the big forklift, while parked out there. :noway:

Get a CHEAP beater/sleeper/whatever you want to call it and beat the crap out of it, have fun, and get another one and start all over:yes: Nothing makes you more happy than driving a car silly that you don't care about abusing!;)

If hagerty would cover me at work I would.....problem is is that you cannot do anything with these cars.

I'm considering selling mine when it's done for a new Challenger. I'm thinking maybe a 2009.

I'd swap mine for a brand new GT convertable. Or a C6

Ouch. You'd swap your chevelle for a car that you see 5 of at the lights of any intersection in the US?

Not saying they arent fun to drive (although I do not know) but I do know that those cars and the 300 Chryslers are just literally EVERYWHERE and because of that horribly boring. Sometimes I feel like I am in the movie "Edward Scissorhands"....300, mustang, mustang, 300, 300 and another mustang.....and the occasional but growing Tahoe owners.

I cant give up my hand made italian shoes for some Air Jordans and a basketball jersey, if you know what I mean.

For a C6 Z06, yes... but the insurance would be more than my house-payment.

I did. Sold my 68 Elky and got a 70 Chevelle. Like to never figured that switch out that was hooked to the distributor and trans. This rocket science stuff gets to me.

I would drive the Chevelle as often as I could. I know you can get regular insurance on a '70 Chevelle. Thats what the one here has. Progressive I think.

I've actually considered selling mine to get a '55 or '56 Chevy 2dr 210. Those 55-56 cars have really grown on me and the 210s are more affordable than the Bel Airs and I actually like the "post" look on those cars.

It would also be nice to be able to enter a car in the shows that most of the females my age are going to. At most Muscle Car Era shows I see mostly Old Guys (No offense), their wives and their grandchildren. At Rock-a-billy type events I see sooo many good looking girls in my age group and they absolutely dig the pre-64 cars.

Then you'll be using the money you make at work to pay for new car payments, gas and speeding tickets for driving that fast car to work. That new Vette, GTO, or Mustand will lose it's appeal when your realize it is no more unique than any other you see parked at the mall or grocery store.

You'll be back...

NOT NO, BUT HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If/when the desire hits for a different car, I'll find a way to get it rather than let go of the 70 conv (or the 56 Vette, or the 51 Chevy, or the factory 5sp Cutlass with a 455).

Better still, swap and LS1 and transmission into your old Chevelle. You get the gas mileage, power, while retaining all the old car flavour.

Don't sell your Chevelle! I like driving my '98 Camaro as a daily driver but what I really need now is a winter beater for the few days/weeks that it snows. Plus I'd like to have the backup vehicle so I can do some upgrades on the camaro ;).
