Looking to change the gears in my 68 Camaro (w/ 9 inch rear) and after having a quick look under it, it appears to have the aluminum Daytona pinion support. Without taking it apart just yet, can someone tell me whether standard 28 spline gear set will work with that support ? I bought the car this way, so no prior knowledge. From what I've read, it just uses a larger bearing but better to ask the experts!

I was hoping to get all the parts together before tearing it down so my buddy can get it set up.

Thanks very much!

If this is the Daytona aluminum pinion housing then it will work with any 28 spline pinion gear. The 35 spline gears are pro gears and don't wear well on the street. It should be easy to tell which one it is. The 28 spline pinion uses a 1 1/6 socket on the pinion nut. The 35 spline uses a much larger nut. The yoke for the aluminum or iron Daytona is different from the standard iron pinion housing because the inner bearing is a lot thicker. Yours should have the right one on it.
