I have read on this site, about dyeing seat belts using RIT fabric Dye. Everyone who tried it said it worked out well.
My Question is, what technique did they use? I followed the directions on the box for their "Bucket technique" (place belts in 5 gal bucket, half full with hot water, with pre-disolved dye, for up to an hour.)
The belts, that I was trying to dye black, (they were Lt. blue originally)ended up, a very dark purple. I even dyed them a second time with a fresh batch of dye, with same result.
Any suggestions?

But did you use hot water in a 5 gal bucket, or did you use their "stove top" technique.?

I used the washer machine method and it turned out good. Mine were black to begin with though. The washer machine also looked black for a couple of weeks. :o Wife didn't like that! :noway:
