OK I am finally about to put the engine back in and crank it up. I had a quick question though. The ports on my heads where ported and polished, and they are about 1/8 of an inch bigger than the ports on my intake. Will this make much of a difference in any aspect? If so any advice on how to get the ports excatly the same would be greatly appreciated. Engine's a 350 bored .060, comp xe274h cam with .490 lift. 10:1 compression, fuelie heads w/2.02's and ported and polished, and a holley 750 dual feed single pump.

Tucker, usually when they open the intake port up a bit, its to a specific gasket. Taking the same gasket, use machinists blue and scribe it's outline on the intake , ensuring to keep the gasket oriented properly. Then match the intake port to the gasket, going 3/4" to 1" into the intake port.
OR, you can just leave it be!

in many cases a savvy head porter will actually insure that theres a "step"in the part where the intake manifold port meets the cylinder head port.i have read(if my memory is still intact) graemlins/clonk.gif that having the intake manifold port slightly smaller than the cylinder head port (creating a step)will in some cases help prevent exhaust reversion and could possibly help swirl or flow.it is not as critical in your case as it would be if the manifold port was larger than the cylinder head port.if this is bad info i'm sure others on this board will jump in and correct me.

leave the port mismatch along the bottom of the port but match the roof and port divider in my opinion, the step at the floor will help prevent reversion. The outside mismatch is not a big consideration because the port narrows at the pushrod pinch area anyway-waste of time opening the entry I believe. Match your roof perfect along with the port dividers-this is where the most flow is. LOL

If you do match, be sure to install the manifold exactly in the correct location. If you don't, you'll have a wrong way mismatch on one side of all the ports. When I opened up the ports on my Vic Jr. (they are extremely small from the factory), I left it undersized by about .010". This made installing it much less critical plus it provided an anti-reversion step.
