We finally got some paint on yesterday after 6 1/2 hours of masking and prepping.

My friend Darrel Elliott rebuilds wrecked 18 wheelers and for $100.00 we were able to use the 110 ft. long paint booth at his work.

It’s actually two "drive through" booths for painting two tractors at the same time.

We’re going to let it cure for about twelve hours before putting the hood back on and loading it back on the trailer to bring back home.

Seeing the prettty black cherry paint makes me motivated to get it all back together now. (it’s only been apart seven years.) :D

I took 28 out of focus pictures before I noticed the little tulip on the camera :o

No, that's my friend Darrel, Funny though, I kept looking at the picture trying to figure out if it was me before I remembered I was outside holding the camera. :)

I'm very happy with it even though it is a cheap paint job but heck I'm not building a trailer queen, just trying to make a nice decent driver.

I still haven't decided for sure on the color for the hood and deck stripes, I like white on black cherry BUT I have black interior so they really should be black.

What do y'all think?

Sweet! Black Cherry is my favorite '70 color. I vote for white stripes even with black int. Is the top white? Normally GM matched the top color with stripes. But I'd want to change the int to white if it were mine. A convertible with black int can be brutal with the top down.

The thing is, I already spent so much on the black interior I don't want to change that again.
I do need to get a new top anyway so I could have white stripes AND a white top but the interior would still be black.

Dean looks great. How close are you to Metcalf? Nick and I have to go up there Thursday for his eye appointment(110th and Metcalf). I might be able to convince him to take the 70(the one with your donated parts on it). Maybe someone is looking for a black interior. You could sell them what you have and start buying a white interior. Just a thought. Pete

Your car is looking good. I wish mine was to the stage it was ready for paint! I'm still in the parts collecting mode then comes the dreaded panel replacment mode...Maybe mine will be ready for paint in 7 years!
